More and more, since an unexpected but programmed personal time-out in October, I
feel the absurdity of a big part of our life, with all the ridiculous
priorities and shallow complaints, slavery to a system of values dictated and
fanned by supports that don’t require us to think. And so what if we think, anyway, do we opt to
be vegetarian, vegan, minimalist, all kinds of other labels everyday more
trendy and yesterday’s news by tomorrow? ... Will this black humour lift, will
we survive more black Friday’s, how do we de-select what’s not essential but
not become some cynical grumpy unhappy and therefore unwise old hermit ? Well,
to each essential value , probably some frivolous silly not-so-correct
side-dishes come along, maybe that’s what our little brains need to be
entertained. Heaven forbid that along
this line of reasoning I will finally ask what the hell is so interesting about
cinema that we devote all our life to it ... or for that matter, about art,
about literature, about anything someone devotes all one’s life to. Better not stop and think about that because
the answer might be pretty disheartening.
Hmmmm. Could stupid Black Friday
provoke such a tidal wave of existential angst ?
MY ONLY SEASON
... and this would come every year around x'mas time,
from year 15 in Hongkong to year xxx as mother of 3 in the Paris suburbs. A Torte from Hôtel Sacher in Vienna where
I've never managed to set foot in yet. But the sender is long gone, gone too
young ... my very first penpal connected through the Children's Corner in the
South China Morning Post ...
Time present and time past
Are both perhaps present in time future
And time future contained in time past.
If all time is eternally present
All time is unredeemable.
