Somewhere in the Middle Kingdom … a forced pause in one’s life, thank god for archiving and hoarding habits in one’s laptop like the trinklets that nomads bring with them as markers in a life with none. Decide to spend at least 10 minutes a day for myself, sort out one archive at a time, collect them before they get lost. Because memory is selective and at best treacherous. “Uprooted ones have few earthly possessions; they are masters at the art of packing trunks, their temporary habitations are like camels which can be loaded and offloaded but which will always be lopsided, and we can be inexplicably attached to a few books, pebbles, shells and other botherations of little value.” *
